What does this car say about you?

That I need a big car, and I dont mind looking a bit unusual and out of style. (It already looks dated and there are not many around at all)

What do your friends / family / neighbours think of the car?

Not too happy if I drip oil on their driveways!

Would you buy this car again and why?

Not too sure. Had the previous spacewagon model and it was still running great after 166k! Cant quite believe a Mitsubishi is leaking oil like this, but then these reviews suggest its not the only one of these models doing it. Also it really is very heavy on petrol around town (20-25mpg at best)

What are you likely to buy next?

Something less thirsty which can be converted to LPG (there are no kits for this GDI engine yet).

Type of dealer you bought from?

    Didn't buy from a dealer

Did you buy this car new?

    No

    What price did you pay?

    £5,000

When did you buy the car?

    November 2005

Did you get a good deal and why?

Private sale, seemed a good price at the time, now feels like it was a bit high.

Is there any special reason why you bought this car?

Needed something with plenty of space.

    What was the dealer like?

  • Driving it

    What's it like to drive?

Cruises motorways and country roads effortlessly, but do have to rev pretty hard to overtake a caravan up a long hill when fully loaded though. Doesn't quite feel like 147bhp to me, but then it is pretty big so I guess its quite heavy.

    What's it like to park?

Not so easy, but then probably no harder than other mpvs of this size. Generally its not so happy around town, suspention is very soft, so much so that you have to be really slow taking speed bumps or it bottoms out when you come down off them. Also its very very thirsty when just doing urban driving.

  • Living with it

Have you had any problems with the car?

Major work on steering needed recently (£500+). Main problem is a persistant significant sized oil leak from back of the engine somewhere, which refuses to be solved despite two concerted attempts by garages so far.

What's most practical about your car?

The adjustable seat positions give you a good variety of seating optiions. Take one rear seat out and five adults can sit in room and comfort and still space for lots of luggage. Take both rear seats out and slide the middle ones to their most forward position and the space for luggage in truly enormous. You literally can take the kitchen sink with you (while still attached to the kitchen!)

    Favourite gadget, option or accessory?

Air con is a really powerful. Useful cup holders as well.
