Didn't do enough research befor buying the Almera. A simple Google search will bring pages of people having exactly the same problem whith this car: Timing Chains and Gearboxes

Have you had any problems with the car?

Headlight melted: Recalled. Timing chain stretched: this made the Nissan Almera very dangerous and cost me £970 to repair as Nissan refused to fix their own defective part. Gearbox disintegrated:I replaced this twice.
