Rover 200 Coupe 1.8 VVC 2d (1997/R) Owner Review
-
Economy
Value
It is an unknown to many, which makes it quite appealing. Can pick them up quite cheap now so well worth a look.
Costs
Only minor niggles down to build quality... Watch out for leaking sunroof/door seals - a better summer car.

On the road
Driving
Good handling. Clutch can be quite heavy. Sporty feel.
Performance
Good traction and stability. Engine happiest accelerating over 3500rpm, a pleasant surprise...

Living with it
Reliability
Never not started in any conditions...
Image
Looks nice enough... but nobody seems quite sure about its pedigree.
Comfort
Taller drivers beware. Thankfully front seats come with manual seat height adjustment and with lumbar support, well designed. Back seats lack height.

Security and Service
Security
Alarm/immobiliser adequate, though mine has a tendancy to go off at the most inopportune moments.
Service
Good servicing, if not a touch expensive - go off piste to local garage.

Problems and Ownership

Watch out smokers... There are no 'parallel water grooves' on the roof so when it rains it will come in the window on bends!
