In their own words

Bought used last year. Needed a spacious, practical good looking car, Insignia ticked all the boxes. 1.8 petrol is OK on fuel, fast enough though, and more reliable than the diesels. SRi model looks best. Nice ride even with harder suspension and big alloy wheels.

Biggest problem was the manual gearbox - a lot of Insignia's have the 6 speed "M32" box which is know to fail. Luckily, mines was replaced under warranty. Look for a moving gearstick when in gear, whine or drone in 5th or 6th gear, walk away from one with these symptoms.

That problem aside it has been a decent car. A lot of people complain about fuel consumption on this model. I say learn to drive - I do get genuine high 30's sometimes even 40 mpg on a long summer cruise. About town you wont get much but that is true of any car.

Buy a looked after one with history and you have one of the best used cars on the market for the price.
