Volkswagen Bora (1999 - 2005) 1.9 TDI SE 4d Owner Review

I have had this car for 5 years, in that time I have replaced due to failure:

Steering rack
Both rear calipers
Reverse light switch
1 ABS sensor
Coolant temp thermometer
Alternator
Aux belt tensioner

All parts were readily available and cheap (rack was 200 quid reconditioned, which was the most expensive part)

I have done routine maintainence such as break fluid, oil timing belt etc when needed.

In the 5 years I have owned it with daily driving it has broken down 3 times due to aux belt tensioner, alternator and steering rack which, considering the car is approaching 22 years is pretty good.

I get 50-55mpg (1.9 non pd tdi, 99bhp) even ran it on veg oil for a while during the fuel shortages with no issues
