In their own words

There’s a lot to like about the Golf mk8, but I returned the car after three weeks because of major faults, all to do with the tech, including the adaptive cruise control suddenly switching to kph and braking hard (scary in heavy traffic when you’re not expecting it), dynamic headlight levelling lowering dipped beam so you can barely see where you’re going, and the infotainment system regularly rebooting or freezing (particularly when on CarPlay and just when you most need the navigation!). VW is well aware of software faults and offers no fix for the cruise control issue on early vehicles. The infotainment CarPlay freezing issue is supposed to have been fixed by a software update but it hadn’t worked on our car. It was disappointing to have these problems with the car, as it’s comfortable, economical and good to drive. Really though, I think it’s inexcusable that VW hasn’t got on top of these issues by now.
