Should you wait for a BMW iX3?

The signs are looking good for this one despite an attention-grabbing cash price (for all the wrong reasons). It packs a hefty battery-only range that trumps the Volvo XC40 Recharge and Mercedes-Benz EQA and yet still packs quite a performance punch. But it's not just about numbers with a BMW, and it never has been.

The good news is that the BMW iX3 is efficient and dynamically up to scratch. So what exactly it is that enables this car to challenge - or perhaps even eclipse - its premium rivals? At the end of a long day's driving, four assets stand out proud: superb handling that generates plenty of old-school emotions, a long range, and the low running and taxation costs that come with an electric car.
