Car buyers can now reserve the all-electric Geely EX5 ahead of sales starting on 24 October, with prices kicking off at £31,990. A £99 refundable fee secures a build slot and early adopters also benefit from a free Andersen A3 7kW homecharger as part of a comprehensive launch package.
Three trims will be available from day one – SE, Pro and Max – each offering high levels of standard equipment and a generous eight-year warranty package. Power comes from a 218hp motor and a 60.22kWh LFP battery, with a WLTP driving range of 255–267 miles depending on version.
Geely Auto UK has moved quickly since confirming its UK entry earlier this year, securing retail partners and calling on Lotus Engineering to fine-tune dynamics for European roads. The firm is also working with Thatcham Research on insurance ratings and Octopus Energy on charging solutions.

What the Geely EX5 SUV offers
The SE kicks off the range at £31,990 and includes 18-inch alloys, heated front seats, a 15.4-inch infotainment screen, adaptive cruise and a 360-degree parking camera. The £33,990 Pro adds 19-inch wheels and new interior options, while the flagship Max (£36,990) throws in a panoramic roof, massaging seats, 16-speaker audio and a head-up display.
Charging from 30-to-80% takes around 20 minutes at a rapid DC point, while owners can also use vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle charging features. Service intervals are set at 24 months or 20,000 miles, with all versions backed by a six-year manufacturer’s warranty plus two extra years of cover.
Mike Yang, General Manager of Geely Auto UK, said: ‘We believe we have a strong introductory model in the Geely EX5, a global car with several stand-out features we believe will have particular appeal to the UK market. The packages and support we have in place to support our customers are stand-out.’

What this means for you
For UK buyers, this is another affordable electric SUV option. With prices starting below £32k, it undercuts many rivals while still offering the kind of kit list normally reserved for higher-end trims.
The eight-year warranty will appeal to used buyers too, meaning residuals could be stronger than some established names. Running costs should also be keen thanks to two-year service intervals and cutting-edge battery tech.
Add in the free home charger and potential Octopus Energy tariff deals, and Geely is clearly aiming to remove some of the usual headaches for new EV owners.

Editor’s view: Another SUV with a lot to prove
First and most obvious question is: who’s going to buy this? Another Chinese brand (re-)enters the UK market with another family SUV, and we’re all supposed to take notice. Having said all that, the EX5 looks like it could be a credible product from the owner of Volvo and LEVC, with solid UK input from Lotus Engineering. At £31,990 it’s priced where electric family SUVs need to be to tempt people out of petrol and diesel.
As someone who has long argued for price parity with ICE in the EV market, I don’t hate this. It appears to have a strong warranty, realistic driving range and rapid charging, and these are the building blocks of a half decent product. It appears that Geely has ticked those boxes and then gone further with generous kit, so it could do reasonably well in a market where brand loyalty in the volume sector is rapidly disappearing.
If this moves on the price war that makes electric cars more accessible, then bring it on, I say. The more players like Geely shake up the market, the better it is for buyers – and my real hope is that the European and Japanese establishment can up their game and drop their prices to at least compete with what’s happening here.
