New Jaecoo 5 SUV looks set to shake-up the establishment at £25k

The new Jaecoo 5 SUV lands in the UK from £24,505 with smart tech, rugged looks and a seven-year warranty.

The new Jaecoo 5 small SUV has been confirmed for the UK, priced from £24,505 on the road, with deliveries expected from October 2025. It follows the larger Jaecoo 7 and brings the same rugged design language and outdoorsy flavour to a smaller, more affordable Nissan Juke/Ford Puma-sized package.

Available in Pure and Luxury trims, the Jaecoo 5 features generous standard equipment, including a 13.2-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 540-degree cameras and a Sony audio system. Power comes from a 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 147hp, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Luxury trim adds a panoramic roof, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting and ventilated, power-adjustable front seats. Inside, there’s seating for five, more than 35 storage areas, and up to 1,180 litres of boot space with the rear seats folded.

Jaecoo 5 SUV - killer punch for £25k?
There’s a lot of kit for your money in here.

What this means for you

If you’re in the market for a well-equipped small SUV, the Jaecoo 5 is aiming to undercut more established rivals on price and spec. With kit like a panoramic roof, ventilated seats and large touchscreen tech available for less than £30,000, it offers plenty of showroom appeal.

There’s a strong focus on practicality too. The boot is larger than most rivals’, there’s loads of in-cabin storage, and the inclusion of Isofix points for two child seats and a flat floor make it family-friendly. The seven-year/100,000-mile warranty and RAC Home Start offer peace of mind.

It’s also worth noting that an electric version of the Jaecoo 5 is coming soon. If you’re thinking about making the switch to an EV, it might be worth holding on to see what that offers.

No, it’s not a Land Rover product. Really.

Editor’s view: Value for money takes precedence over brand

Jaecoo is already doing decent numbers in the UK. The larger Jaecoo 7 is selling well and is becoming a surprisingly common sight on our roads. It’s clear that buyers aren’t put off by the unfamiliar badge – they’re responding to the rugged design and value-for-money pricing.

The new Jaecoo 5 takes that formula and turbocharges that into something even more accessible. At £25k, it really does offer a lot of bang for your bucks, especially when you look at the level of equipment that comes as standard. As one person said to me recently, ‘it looks like an Evoque viewed through the bottom of a beer glass.’

I’ll be keeping a close eye on how it drives, and how the dealer experience shapes up. But first impressions? Given how well the 7 drives for the money, I’d say the odds are that this one won’t be too bad either. It’s another bold play from a brand that’s clearly looking to aggressively expand into the UK market, and I can’t see it making the lives of rivals carmakers any easier.
