There is promise to the Changan Deepal S07, so it’s a shame a few key failings make it hard to recommend.

What we like

The interior is a pleasant place to be thanks to a good spread of plush materials where it matters and solid build. It’s unlikely you’ll want for more equipment and space for passengers impresses.

What we don’t like

Stiff suspension makes for a punishing ride, especially on rutted urban roads. Light, numb steering contributes to the uninvolving handling and the battery tech seems a bit last gen. Range is nothing to write home about and rapid charging is disappointingly slow.
