Should you buy one?

If you can live with the Corvette’s Marmite styling and image, then emphatically yes. In our time with the car, it surprised everyone with its breadth of ability, performance, handling and sheer fun. It’s perfectly liveable every day, doors aside, and will plaster a huge grin on your face even if you’re popping to your local shop for some milk.

No, it isn’t cheap compared to some sports cars out there, but it really does provide a junior supercar experience at a price that makes an Audi R8 Spyder look expensive and is far more charismatic than a Porsche 911 Cabriolet. It’s not often we don’t want to give cars back, but this is one of those occasions.

What we like

This section could get very long. We love the big-hearted V8’s noise and the power is enough to have a lot of fun without it being too much of a liability. Interior quality is good for the most part and the design is far more interesting than an R8 or 911, helping it to feel more special.

There’s no luggage penalty for picking the Convertible and the ride and handling aren’t just good for an American car, they’re amongst the best in class.

What we don’t like

It’s very thirsty when driven hard, some of the plastics and switches feel a bit cheap and the rear boot gets rather hot. Oh, and we can’t afford one.
