Citroen will boost its range of low CO2-emitting cars in 2011 with new versions of the C3.
Although the new C3 range, now on sale, includes a 99g/km version using the 1.6-litre HDi engine, Citroen has confirmed it will offer more diesel versions with CO2 emissions below 100g/km, as well as a sub-100g/km petrol version.
The company will introduce a three-cylinder petrol engine that would duck the 100g/km threshold and fall into the new 10 per cent company car tax bracket for cars with CO2 emissions up to 100g/km to be brought in from April 2012.
However, there will also be two new diesel versions - one with CO2 emissions of 90g/km and the other at 95g/km.
Given that no models in the new C3 range currently use automatic stop-start technology, it is likely that all the new low CO2 versions will be fitted with this to help achieve their low figures.
The three-cylinder petrol models are likely to achieve about 65mpg on the official combined cycle, while the diesel versions should reach about 80mpg.
