SEAT has launched a high-performance diesel version of the Ibiza capable of more than 60mpg and with CO2 emissions of 119g/km.

The Ibiza FR TDI uses a 143bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine and is available both as a five-door hatchback as well as a three-door SC.

Capable accelerating from 0-62mph in 8.2 seconds in the SC version (hatchback: 8.3 seconds), and with an outright maximum speed of 130mph (hatchback: 129mph), the Ibiza FR also records fuel consumption of 62.7mpg on the combined cycle.

Equipment is the same as in the petrol version of the Ibiza FR launched in 2009, including electronic climate control, electric windows, cruise control and front and side airbags.

The FR is also fitted with electronic stability control as well as an electronic equivalent of a mechanical limited slip differential that helps improve traction in tricky conditions.

The Ibiza FR TDI is available to oder now with deliveries starting in March and prices starting at £16,465 on the road.
