Overview
The Fiesta Mk 5 from 1999-2002 was a thorough updating of the model that was launched in 1995. The feline-look lights, sculpted bonnet and new grille were the visual cues to the change, while Ford beefed-up the range with a sporty 1.6 petrol engine and sprightly 1.8 TDi diesels. But only a complete redesign could cure some of the old car’s inherent shortcomings, so this Fiesta still had cramped rear accommodation and below average luggage space, despite better interior packaging and fresher looks.
