The Focus saloon is only available in higher trim levels, which means all cars have good safety equipment including six airbags. Euro NCAP rate it as a five-star car for crash protection – the maximum score. Optional safety equipment includes adaptive headlights and a traction and stability control system.
Having a boot rather than a hatchback tailgate means the Focus saloon doesn’t offer the flexibility of the hatchback or estate – the boot is also quite high off the ground, so can be quite difficult to access. But with 526 litres of luggage space it offers more than the hatch (which offers 385 litres) plus comes with folding seats. However it can’t carry large or boxy items like the standard Focus can.
There is plenty of cabin storage though including large door pockets and central cubby that doubles as the front armrest.

Euro NCAP provides motoring consumers with a realistic and independent assessment of the safety performance of some of the most popular cars sold in Europe. The safety ratings are determined from a series of vehicle tests, designed and carried out by Euro NCAP. These tests represent, in a simplified way, important real life accident scenarios that could result in injured or killed car occupants or other road users.
