Honda Accord Tourer (2003 - 2008) boot space, practicality and safety
Rated by crash-test experts Euro NCAP as a four-star car. The only area it was pulled up on was knee protection for the front passenger – it wasn’t quite good enough. But it ticks all the right boxes in other areas: six airbags, ABS and electronic brakeforce distribution, while security consists of deadlocks and immobiliser and a perimeter alarm as standard.
But you’ll pay for interior alarm sensors.
Rear seats are designed to fold flat in just one movement – no need to pull the front seat squab up. You can also raise the motorised tailgate from a button on the keyfob – ideal if you’re carrying shopping. The load area is capable of carrying most loads, and is as roomy as most rivals, despite its sporty looks. A useful amount of cubby holes, too.
