Kia Carens Estate engines, drive and performance
2000 - 2006
(change model)
Two engines. A 125bhp 1.8 petrol and 2.0 diesel with 110bhp. The diesel unit is the best one. Iit makes up for its power deficiency by having lots of pulling power while the 1.8 is thrashy and coarse.
Around town, Carens’ ride is comfortable, soaking up potholes and ruts, but on A and B roads it becomes uncomfortable. On the motorway, it’s too wallowy. The steering is too light and lacks feel and feedback on all surfaces. Considerable bodyroll. Good visibility and easy to park.
