  • Fuel economy broadly similar to diesel
  • Expect more expensive consumables
  • Servicing isn’t likely to be cheap either.

Since it’s a hybrid, Lexus NX running costs probably aren’t as bad as you think. Fuel economy ranges from 35.6 to 40mpg when it undertook the real-world WLTP test.

Consumables like tyres are likely to be more expensive than a similarly sized hatchback too due to the larger-sized wheels.

We wouldn’t expect particularly cheap servicing costs, either. Lexus is big on customer service, but like most things, you get what you pay for.

Given the Lexus NX is available with a single hybrid-only drivetrain there’s only one CO2 figures and it might be lower than you expect given the size of car – 135g/km.

An SUV like this is never going to offer the super-low emission figures of a smaller hybrid hatchback or even a conventionally powered car, so ultimately if you want the most environmentally friendly vehicle you should look elsewhere.

However, if you want an SUV, the Lexus NX is about as good as it gets.

  • Lexus shares Toyota’s record here
  • And many parts from its cars too
  • We don’t think you’ll have trouble

Toyota enjoys a brilliant reputation for well-built cars, and as such Lexus NX reliability shouldn’t be a cause for concern.

The majority of parts and systems have seen service on other Lexus products so you can consider them tried-and-tested.
