Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 23 - 30 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Despite the relatively low depreciation rate, the maintenance bills and servicing might hit you a little hard in the pocket. Running costs are comparable to the E-Class. The equipment justifies the high prices, as the CLK coupé offers a good standard level of kit for a car of this age, with air conditioning, power steering, tinted glass and an automatic heating system.

Trusty and dependable, there shouldn’t be too many problems under the bonnet, especially if the pricey servicing is kept up. The Mercedes-Benz engineering promises many trouble free miles, but there is always the risk of the odd electrical hiccup that could flare up.
