Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 20 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

4.6-litre V8s are never cheap to run and this one’s no different. Residuals should be quite good thanks to rarity but if you start using nitrous you’ll double your fuel costs. If you can afford this much for an MG we doubt you’ll care.

With average fuel consumption figures of just 20mpg and emitting 324 g/km CO2, it’s no surprise that SV scores so poorly. Nonetheless, these figures are fairly standard for a sports coupé and it performs similarly to the Jaguar XK8 and BMW 6-Series. The only saving grace is that buyers of these sorts of cars tend to do fewer miles per year than those that own average family cars.

Bits are built and shipped in from all over the place which doesn’t bode well, but the Ford V8 and gearbox are all proven so they shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
