MINI Aceman JCW verdict

Should you buy one?
I wouldn’t. A regular MINI Aceman can go farther on charge and is slightly more comfortable if you’re taken by the looks and interior, and an Abarth 600e has a more bearable ride, bigger boot and is more fun if you just want a small, fast electric SUV.
The Aceman JCW is fun on the right road, and is certainly quick enough once you’re rolling. Unfortunately, this and the attractive interior doesn’t offset its numerous flaws that make it something of a chore to live with.
What we like
It’s quick enough and handles well on smooth roads, while the interior ambiance looks suitably upmarket.
What we don’t like
The ride is unrelentingly firm and there’s a lot of torque steer if you put your foot down. The boot is tiny, rear seats cramped and there aren’t enough physical buttons for key functions inside.
