When launched in 2007, the MINI Clubman was billed as a more practical alternative to the MINI hatchback. It was longer and thus had more legroom for rear passengers, and you got extra bootspace too.

There were some cool design touches including a split rear door, a twin-level boot floor for extra luggage-carrying versatility and a side door (called a ‘Clubman’ door) for easier access to the back seats.

It also drove like a MINI, which is to say it’s a very engaging, fun little car. So while other similarly sized estate cars might offer more space, if you want a MINI but need a little more room, the Clubman is in a class of one.
