Mitsubishi Outlander Estate engines, drive and performance
2004 - 2007
(change model)
All cars are fitted with a 158bhp 2.4 MIVEC petrol engine with a four-speed automatic gearbox. A manual gearbox may be added to the range at a later date. It needs to be worked hard and isn’t particularly refined or economical. No diesel option is planned.
We expected it to be better than it was, considering the chassis is based on that of the EVO VIII performance car. Its responses are a little muted and there’s considerable bodyroll through corners, mainly because of its height. Steering could do with more feel. A firm ride that can become bouncy on poor road surfaces.
