Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 29 - 46 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Expect its value to plummet the moment you drive it off the forecourt. Just like most other new cars in this class the Primera doesn’t have very strong residual values. Service intervals of 9000 miles are nothing special with many cars lasting longer between visits to the dealer, but such regularity does help preserve reliability. Parts and other costs are reasonably low.

It’s built in the UK, so doesn’t need parts shipped in from Japan at extra cost.

Primera scores reasonably on the eco front. With an average of 191 g/km CO2 across the line-up, its emissions are fairly standard for a medium-sized estate. The range is not particularly economical, averaging 36 mpg.

Reliability tends to be very good, with niggles being the only problems we’ve heard of. Showstoppers are unlikely.
