The 308 CC was awarded a maximum five star rating for adult occupant safety by Euro NCAP along with three stars for child safety. All models come with six airbags including a head airbag for the front passengers which is housed directly in the seat and comes from the head restraint. There are Isofix child seat mounts in the two rear seats and the passenger airbag can be deactivated to allow a rear-facing child seat in the front.
In the case of a roll over accident, there are pop-up roll-over protection bars and strengthened windscreen pillars. Stability control is also standard on all models.
Folding down the roof takes around 20 seconds and as it's fully automatic there are no latches or handles to release first - simply one button next to the handbrake. Usefully, the windows are lowered slightly (to allow the roof to retract) and automatically returned back up, while there's also a button that will lower or raise all four windows at once.
If you get caught in a sudden downpour in traffic the roof operates at speeds up to 7.5mph. Boot space is good at 465 litres - that's actually more than a standard 308 hatchback - but with the roof retracted this is cut to just 266 litres. The load area is narrow too and with the roof folded down, it's tricky to access with just a narrow slot.
