It has a particularly strong body, with side impact beams and a special hook in the door to catch the sill and reinforce the side structure in the event of a side impact. There are two front airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners and a seatbelt warning-chime. All models have Isofix compatible seating to carry child seats. An alarm and immobiliser are also fitted as standard.

The Satria Neo is only available as a three-door. Good for sporty looks but not for practicality and getting in and out of the back can be awkward, although the passenger seat does slide forward to make access a little easier. However it’s not easy to fit child seats. Boot space is adequate with 286 litres of luggage room – almost identical to a Vauxhall Corsa and the rear seats have the usual 60/40 split folding system to increase carrying capacity.

The boot can only be opened via a lever on the floor in the driver’s footwell – good for security, but otherwise inconvenient. In addition to the usual glovebox and front door bins, there are cup holders behind the handbrake lever and a pair of storage recesses either side of the stereo. They’re shaped to look distinctive, which slightly limits their usefulness but they will take a wallet or packet of tissues.
