Megane’s incredibly strong bodyshell helped to win a four star Euro NCAP rating in 1999, which makes it one of the safest cars of its generation. Driver’s airbag is standard, with passenger and side airbags and ABS originally optional, then standard from April 1999. Immobiliser is good, but door locks are weak.
Decent sized boot easily takes a family’s weekend luggage. Storage space inside is reasonable too.
