Renault Scenic Estate boot space, practicality and safety

One of the safest medium MPVs of its time with a four-star Euro NCAP rating for the later model (the 1997-99 car wasn’t tested). Early models have a driver’s airbag (plus passenger bags on RXE). Models from 1999 have driver, passenger and side airbags plus ABS. Security isn’t so good. There’s an immobiliser, but early cars only have an optional alarm.
From 1999 it’s fitted to more expensive models.
Scenic seats five adults, but luggage space is at a premium and more buyers in this sector are now demanding seven-seater practicality (which Zafira offers). Some clever cubby bins.
