Should you buy one?

At the moment we’re without firm UK pricing, although expect to pay a couple of grand or so more than the equivalent #1. If that is the case, the #3 makes a very tempting electric SUV for those who are happy to sacrifice a bit of practicality for improved handling and sleeker looks.

Yes, the Brabus is significantly more than the similarly fast MG4 XPower, but it feels absolutely worth the money. However, like the #1 we expect the 66kWh rear-wheel drive model to be the sweet spot of the range. Not only does it go farther and cost less, it’s 5.8 seconds 0-62mph time is still faster than plenty of supposedly sporty cars.

Yes, a Tesla Model Y has more space for similar money, but it’s not as good to drive and the interior isn’t as plush. It is hard to ignore its greater range, though.

What we like

Interior quality really impresses, making it feel like a more premium product than direct rivals such as the Hyundai Kona Electric and Kia Niro Electric. Space for passengers is good, especially given the roofline, and all models offer performance that is brisk at the very least.

Even base models get tonnes of equipment including loads of safety assist kit, and charging times are competitive. We’re also fans of the way the Brabus handles, and the regular #3 should be sharper than the equivalent #1, too.

What we don’t like

The boot isn’t particularly big and the rear seats don’t do anything particularly clever unlike some rivals. We also wish there were a few more physical controls, while the ride might be a little on the firm side for some.
