Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 23 - 42 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

Service intervals are every 6000 miles and Suzuki parts can be pricey, although labour rates are usually competitive.

Grand Vitara performs fairly badly on the eco front. With an average of 230 g/km CO2 across the line-up, its emissions are a little high for a large 4×4. The range is not very frugal, averaging 30 mpg.

Built in Canada, but build quality is as good as Suzukis built in Japan. Suzuki has good reputation for reliability so problems, if any, should be minor.
