This is one area where there was very little development during the Swift’s long lifetime. Crash protection is poor and it lacks many of today’s expected safety features – including airbags and ABS. Post 1995 models have an engine immobiliser.

Swift is large for a supermini, but cabin space is not particularly well used, giving a cramped feel. However, it does have a large boot, which is easy to access and the rear seats can be split/folded on most models to accommodate heavy or bulky loads.
