Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 41 - 62 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

The Swift is excellent value for money new and even better as a used car. All engines are economical and insurance is cheap too while servicing at Suzuki dealers is very affordable. Depreciation is better than other small cars too.

The Swift performs fairly well on the eco front, although CO2 emissions for the petrol engines seem a little high compared to other manufacturers engines – for instance the 1.3-litre petrol emits 140g/km of CO2. The diesel is the cleanest with CO2 emissions of 119g/km (meaning road tax is cheap) and fuel economy of 63mpg.

Suzuki has a reputation for mechanical durability, but interior quality has often let it down. This Swift seems to address that with switchgear and interior fittings that are a match, and in some cases better, than European alternatives.
