MR2 kept pace with many of the safety developments during its 10-year production run and has side impact bars and ABS brakes, but only driver side airbags. Alarm/immobiliser from March 1994; locking wheel-nuts from 1995.
Even when you pop out the roof panels in the T-Bar there is room behind the seats leaving the boot free for luggage. Aside from the glovebox, interior storage areas are few and far between.
