Power is not an issue for most MPVs, and the Previa proves to be a very willing performer. The one 2.4 litre petrol engine may not be economical, but it makes up for that with eager performance which sees it to 60 mph in just over 11 seconds and a top speed over 110 mph. The automatic gearbox though on the GL and GX blunts that performance edge.

The Previa shows its age on the road and is probably the most van-like of this generation of MPVs. Even so the ride is pretty good with the front and rear wheels being so far apart and handling is acceptable. The only thing is the bulk of the bodywork could make nervous drivers a little more anxious. Tidy handling; easy to manoeuvre; leans in corners and is affected by side-winds.
