Available as both a saloon and estate model, the Vauxhall Omega arrived in 1994 and replaced the Vauxhall Carlton and Senator that came before it.

It was itself replaced in 2004 by the Vauxhall Signum, though that failed to be a success and was particularly
                                short-lived.

This rear-wheel drive executive car was a direct competitor for the awkwardly styled Ford Scorpio as well as more established premium rivals such as the BMW 5 Series, Mercedes E-Class and Audi A6.

Without the brand cache of its German rivals, it enjoyed limited success – though British police forces rated its high-speed stability and excellent load carrying ability enough to employ many as high-speed pursuit vehicles.
