Volkswagen Golf Hatchback boot space, practicality and safety

1992 - 1998 (change model)
Practicality rating: 3 out of 53.0

Written by Parkers Published: 6 June 2019 Updated: 6 June 2019

ABS brakes were standard on sporting models and optional on all others. A driver’s airbag was fitted from 1994 onwards, whilst a passenger airbag was optional. Early locks were quite poor, improved later and an immobiliser was fitted from 1994 onwards.

The hatchback has a good sized boot, whilst split/folding rear seats are fitted to all models from CL upwards. Interior storage space is also quite good with front door bins, centre console storage as well as the glovebox.
