What are the running costs?

The base-spec single-motor EX40 has a charge economy rating of 3.6 miles per kWh, which is at the top end of a basic BMW iX1’s economy of 3.4 to 3.6. Sizing up to the bigger battery in the Volvo improves on the single-motor’s consumption efficiency further, with 3.7mi/kWh. As it’s electric, the EX40 produces zero grams of CO2 in any spec.
