What we like

We think Xpeng has done a good job of the G6. It’s not the best electric SUV you can buy, but we prefer it to the hugely popular Tesla Model Y. It feels better-built, is more comfortable and its interior is generally easier to work with. The software in general works very well and we didn’t have a single issue during our test, which is quite unusual in this day and age. It’s also very well equipped as standard and offers plenty of space throughout. 

What we don’t like

There are still too many features controlled with the touchscreen, and more physical buttons would certainly be welcome. It’s also nothing special to drive and the ride can prove a bit bouncy on particularly rough roads. The boot also isn’t as useful as the Tesla’s and it lacks that car’s front boot (frunk).
