Parkers overall rating: 4.5 out of 54.5

While the alternative M Performance version of the BMW X3 may be a little more engaging – and a little cheaper – the Audi SQ5 is still an outstanding fast SUV with lots to recommend it. The combination of such a comfortable ride with so much performance makes this a very pleasant way to get around, just mind the fuel bill if you’ve constantly got your foot down.

What we like

Muscular performance and air-suspension makes the SQ5 a relaxed cruiser or a very fast bruiser. The interior is well appointed and well made. The tech is easy to get to grips with. And there’s plenty of space.

What we don’t like

It can feel a little anodyne at sensible speeds (but this makes driving at the legal limit very easy in almost all situations), the piano black trim attracts fingerprints, and the brakes could be more confidence inspiring.
