The BMW 3 Series Touring has one of the best driver-focused cabins around. All the switchgear including the central console is angled towards the driver which makes you feel that the BMW engineers have specifically built the car for you. The cabin features high quality plastics while the dash is soft to touch. The interior is a massive step up from the previous generation.

Mercedes may still make better interiors but BMW is catching fast.

The BMW 3 Series Touring comfort levels are very good, no matter what surface you’re driving on. If you are constantly travelling up and down the UK’s motorway network then a diesel-powered 3 Series Touring makes a lot of sense. There is minimal road, wind and tyre noise while the ride is excellent.

Up front the seats are comfortable, well bolstered and have ample side supports. Move to the rear seats and you’ll find a decent amount of space for two adults. The 3 Series Touring is 97mm longer overall and 50mm longer wheelbase giving rear most passengers more space. This equates to 17mm more knee room and 9mm more head room in the rear making it more comfortable on long journeys. A downside is the manual front seats: they are a faff to get into place. If you want the perfect driving position then tick the box for electric front seats
