There's no official Euro NCAP crash safety rating for the 6-Series, but the 1-Series and 3-Series which were launched at a similar time, both achieved the maximum five star rating for adult occupant safety. BMW’s Dynamic Stability Control is supplemented by five additional safety features to create DSC+. These include brake drying (which applies the pads to the discs in wet conditions to clear a film of water), brake pre-tensioning and brake fade compensation which recognises brake temperature rises and automatically increases brake pressure to prevent any fading.
A maximum of 350 litres of boot space is available with the roof up, which is roughly the same as a family hatchback like the Volkswagen Golf. Despite the size of the roof, boot space only reduces by 50 litres when it's stowed so there's still enough to swallow a couple of suitcases. Parking sensors are standard too - an image of the car and any surrounding obstacles is depicted on the dashboard screen so the driver has a better idea of their proximity.
The rear seats are really non existent and are only really suitable for young children or, more likely, luggage.
