 The Parkers Verdict

The 6 Series Gran Turismo represents a large improvement over the outgoing 5 Series Gran Turismo. It’s impressively comfortable, refined, spacious and versatile, and tones down some of its predecessor’s ugliness.

That it delivers much of the luxury and space of a 7 Series at a far lower price point, with even more luggage space than a 5 Series Touring, adds to its compelling case. Adjusted for its more generous specification, the price gap to the 5-series also narrows considerably.

But the 6GT remains hard to love, with a design that’s unlikely to stir the emotions, and a driving experience that falls short of BMW’s trademark dynamism. For some, that simply won’t matter, but we suspect the 5 Series Touring will suit British buyers better.
