The Coupe doesn’t have a Euro NCAP crash safety rating but the convertible scored a respectable four out of five for adult occupant safety. It has a comprehensive tally of safety features including four airbags, and a full range of electronic driver aids to help ensure maximum braking performance and stability in emergency conditions. If the brakes are used hard enough to trigger the anti-lock system, then the rear brake lights increase in size to signal a possible emergency to those following.
The Z4 also uses run-flat tyres which can be driven even when punctured, and there’s a puncture warning indicator.
The Coupe has significantly more boot space than the roadster thanks to its hatchback bodyshape, with enough room for a large suitcase or a couple of golf bags. A luggage cover offers privacy for boot contents but can be removed to increase space further and there are additional storage cubby holes behind the seats for storing CDs and other odds and ends.
