GWM has launched a new £3,750 ‘Green Grant’ for private buyers of its Ora 03 electric car, matching the value of the Government’s revised EV incentive, but without the confusion or the wait. The offer applies across the entire Ora 03 range and brings the entry-level Pure model down to just £21,245 on the road.
The move follows uncertainty over which cars qualify for the latest Government grant. Rather than leave buyers hanging, GWM has taken matters into its own hands, providing a guaranteed saving for anyone who buys a new Ora 03 electric hatch before the end of September 2025. In reality, it’s highly unlikely that the Chinese-made Ora 03 will qualify for the grant, so it’s a move to remain competitive.
The firm’s offering a £3,750 saving that can be used as a deposit contribution on a 0% APR PCP deal, making the switch to electric driving cheaper and more accessible for buyers looking for an affordable EV with decent range, smart styling and generous kit.

All three Ora 03 trims, Pure, Pro and GT, are included in the offer. Toby Marshall, Managing Director at GWM UK, said: ‘We don’t believe our customers should have to wait for the government to decide which vehicles qualify for the EV grant.’
What this means for you
If you’ve been eyeing up an electric car but aren’t sure where the latest government support leaves you, this offer cuts through the noise. You get a clear £3,750 saving now, no application, no uncertainty, no fine print.
Paired with 0% finance and immediate availability, this is one of the most affordable ways into a new EV right now. You can buy a fully equipped, and Volkswagen ID.3-sized electric car for just over £21,000, with the reassurance of a long warranty and solid spec.
Editor’s view: Yes it’s cheap, but…

I’ll be honest, there’s a caveat. I’ve driven the Ora 03, and while it’s packed with kit and stands out on the road, it’s far from the cutting edge of the budget EV class. The driving experience and build quality just aren’t quite there when compared with established rivals, and you’re not far away from a Renault 5 E-Tech.
But this £3,750 ‘Green Grant’ is a clever bit of positioning from GWM. With the Government making EV support harder to follow than a low-speed U-turn, GWM’s message is refreshingly simple: here’s the deal, no faff. Me, I’ll wait and see how much we’re getting off a Renault 5 or Fiat Grande Panda.
That said, a cash discount only goes so far. What really matters is how affordable it is month to month. With residuals on the ORA 03 still soft, the key thing to check is the finance quote. If that 0% PCP really delivers a low monthly payment, and you’re okay with a left-field choice, this could be a cheap way into EV ownership. But the significance of this move is more to do with the rapid downward shift in EV prices we’re starting to witness.
It’s going to be a bumpy ride.
