Pros & cons
PROS
Characterful V8 engine, masses of road presence
CONS
Uneconomical engine, sky high running costs, too big for UK roads, woeful handling
Dodge Ram V8 Laramie 4x4 (05-07) rivals
Overview
The Ram is a brute of a pick-up truck that’s really too big for UK roads. It’s huge dimensions and boxy shape make it difficult to drive along country roads while multi-storey car parks are a no-go area.
It does come with a 5.7-litre V8 that produces a great sound and delivers potent performance, but there’s little else positive about the Ram. It stands out thanks to the aggressive styling, but it has high running costs, an awful automatic gearbox and lacks any sophistication in the way it rides and handles.
