Dodge Ram V8 Laramie 4x4 boot space, practicality and safety

2005 - 2007 (change model)
Practicality rating: 2.5 out of 52.5

The UK-specification Ram comes with front and side airbags, anti-lock brakes and a Thatcham category one alarm but the centre seat in the rear (and the occasional one in the front) only have lap seatbelts.

The payload for a car of this size is pretty poor and less than many smaller pick-ups like the Nissan Navara and Toyota Hilux. In fact, in can only carry 549kgs and as a result isn’t even officially classed as a commercial vehicle. The pick-up are is best used for luggage – tonneau covers are available as an optional extra, as there’s no other boot space aside from an underseat storage compartment in the back.

There’s decent storage in the cabin with deep door pockets and a large central stowage box.
