What are the running costs?

One of the biggest questions of any electric car is how far it’ll go on a charge. The answer for the GV60 is pretty far. The WLTP range for the single motor is 321 miles while the Sport model will officially do 292 miles and Sport Plus registers a 290-mile score.

We came pretty close to matching these figures, so the GV60 is one you can confidently choose if you’re a regular long-distance user. We reckon we were 10-20 miles off that in real-world driving without too much in the way of eco-driving. But what’s even more useful is that the range predictor proved to be spot on in the versions we’ve driven.

The GV60 has 800V charging capabilities, which means at ultra fast chargers you can top up from 10-80% in 18 minutes. This is impressive, but chargers capable of these speeds are few and far between in the UK.

Servicing and warranty

The Genesis Care Plan is designed to take the pain out of car ownership, so all maintenance and inspection services are included with the price – and last for five years or 50,000 miles. This means all consumable replacements are included in the car’s purchase price, and you can even get new wiper blades fitted if they’re needed.

In addition, Genesis will come and collect your car for servicing and leave you with a courtesy car so that you’re not left immobile while yours is being worked on. The five-year Care Plan also includes five years of navigation and software updates, and connected services that will operate for the duration of the Care Plan, too.

Reliability

  • Genesis is a new company but linked with Hyundai and Kia
  • Five-year warranty beats premium rivals, but lags behind Toyota, Kia and MG
  • Build quality feels second-to-none at this price

The South Korean brand uses Hyundai and Kia underpinnings and tech, and as such, starts off with a very reliable base. Although it’s far too soon to talk about overall reliability, it’s reasonable to assume that the GV60 is going to stack up in the long term because of this family connection.

The GV60 certainly feels as though it’s been built to last, with hardwearing, and highly tactile materials inside and excellent quality, with no squeaks or rattles when driving.
