Fuel economy

A more stringent standard for fuel economy (WLTP) was introduced from September 2017, and this model was not required to undergo that test. Its fuel economy measured under the previous test system was 24 mpg. However these figures are less likely to be achievable in real world driving and so should never be compared to another car's mpg which was measured under the newer, more realistic WLTP system.

The IS F is certainly not cheap with a new price tag of more than £50,000 and running costs are just as steep. With an average fuel economy figure of around 25mpg and a tank range that struggles to get beyond 300 miles, you’ll find yourself a regular visitor to your local petrol station. The IS-F doesn’t hold its value as well as its German rivals so depreciation is steeper.

With CO2 emissions of 270g/km the IS F is a big polluter but still cleaner than the Mercedes C63 AMG and BMW M3. As you’d expect it’s thirsty with an average fuel economy of just 25mpg – but again this is better than its rivals.

Lexus enjoys an enviable reputation for build quality and reliability and the IS F feels as equally well built as the firms other models. As with any high-performance vehicle, regular servicing is vital.
