What we like

The effortless performance of both the Lotus Emeya 600 and Emeya 900, together with a hugely capable chassis, make this a very easy car to travel cross-country in. It’s also a surprisingly practical proposition which enough passenger and boot space for it to serve as a family car.

Fast charge times help compensate for the somewhat disappointing real-world range and the thumping KEF stereo is a particular highlight among the generous standard features. Most of all, we love how utterly lovely the interior is.

What we don’t like

Residual values for large luxury EVs like the Emeya are pretty painful at the moment, so you need consider how best to pay for it to take the sting out of the tail. It doesn’t help that the Lotus dealer network is very small and there are on-ging corporate issues at Lotus that don’t exactly inspire confidence.

Other than that, there’s not much we don’t like. We were disappointed by the Emeya’s real-world range, which is well off the official figures. And it doesn’t feel as lively and engaging from behind the steering wheel as we hoped a Lotus ‘hyper-GT’ would be.
