Peugeot e-3008 verdict
Should you buy one?
There’s a lot resting on the shoulders of this new Peugeot – the second-generation 3008 was quite the success, and more is expected of its replacement. It shifted 1.32 million units in seven years, so the new model needs to be good to match or exceed its predecessor’s achievements.
With a clean sheet of paper to work with, we were expecting great things from the E-3008. Sadly, it feels more like a missed opportunity given it’s not particularly impressive real world efficiency, stiff low-speed ride and sluggish performance. It’s worth considering if style is your thing, but there are rivals that offer far more substance.
What we like
It’s certainly distinctive, and the interior quality is just as impressive as the daring design. The E-3008 is also quiet on the move, has a good-sized boot and comes with plenty of equipment
What we don’t like
It’s very heavy for its size, not the most spacious in the back, nor the most exciting and engaging to drive. The ride is also punishingly stiff at low speeds, the real-world efficiency isn’t that great, and it’s rather expensive compared to a number of rivals.
